Local Business Donates 25 Turkeys to Gloucester Food Bank
Coastal Windows & Exteriors in Beverly carted 410 lbs of turkey to the Open Door Food Pantry in Gloucester.
GLOUCESTER, MA – Twenty five turkeys were donated to The Open Door Food Pantry on behalf of Coastal Windows & Exteriors customers last week.
Stephanie Vanderbilt, owner of the Beverly roofing, siding, doors, and window company, carted the 410 lbs of turkey to Open Door Executive Director Julie LaFontaine on Friday, Nov. 18, to celebrate Coastal Windows & Exteriors' busiest season yet. Each of the 25 turkeys, bought from Market Basket in Rowley, was tagged with the name of a customer who bought energy-efficient roofing, siding, windows, and/or entry doors in November.
"We deeply appreciate the trust that so many North Shore homeowners have placed in us to protect and secure their most important investment, their homes," said Vanderbilt in a news release. "In response to that trust, we’ve made it part of our mission to give back to the communities we serve in whatever way possible. This Thanksgiving, we’re doing so on behalf of our current November customers, which makes the gesture even more fulfilling."

Gloucester resident Debra Zageski was among the November customers whose name will be on a donated turkey. She said she's excited to get new windows, since her current ones don't block noise, wind, and cold the way she would like.
"I also appreciate that Coastal Windows is involved in the local community and gives back in several ways throughout the year," Zageski said. "I just heard that the company is donating turkeys to The Open Door for local families to enjoy during the holiday season. They are donating a turkey in my name! I truly appreciate a company that has a human face and connection."

LaFontaine said said Open Door's mission of alleviating the impact of hunger in the community can't happen unless people get behind it.
"We very much appreciate Coastal Windows & Exteriors' generous contribution," she said.
