Local Couple Gets Unexpected Guests!

A Beverly Couple were not expecting any guest however that is not what happened on a calm and quiet afternoon this past weekend.

With the busy Halloween season starting in Salem folks from all over the world are flocking to the North Shore and filling up rooms and hotels all over. Thousands and thousands of people cram into the small 8 square miles of Salem every year and their all looking for a place to stay. One family in the Ryal Side section of town were not however to have any part of the Haunted Happenings events.

Beverly couple George & Beth McKie were wondering what was going on this past weekend when their doorbell rang just before dinner time. "The doorbell rang in the middle of the afternoon, a rarity. I went out on the front porch and saw two women standing at the door. I opened the door and asked them if I could help them.” George told us. What the couple didn’t know that they weren’t at the house expecting to talk to them about joining a church or donating money they were there in regards to a booking they made on Hotels.com. The two woman then asked “Yes, we've booked this house on hotels.com.' and then George said “'Excuse me?'. This conversation continued to progress until the woman then asked 'This is 40 Journey Way, right?' in which George replied '”No, this is 40 County Way,'” Upon searching online via Hotels.com and Expedia.com you can locate that there is a booking for a location in Beverly MA listed 40 Journey Way however there isn’t a Journey way in Beverly. Clearly however on the listing they have a google map embeded and it’s showing 40 County way as the location of the guest room.

We reached out to Hotels.com and Expedia the parent company and haven’t gotten a response, but upon further discussion this is a new listing and it appears that either this is an error on the web sites part or it is a fraud scam which have been occurring more and more these days with new business such as AirBnB and other room sharing platforms have expanded. If your looking for the majestic mountain views that are described in the picture however we’re sorry to say that the Kernwood Bridge isn’t the location you’ll find those. Stay with us at Beverly Patch as we continue to dig deeper into what could cause such an issue like this and see where it can lead.
