BEVERLY, MA — A staff member accidentally hit a panic button, triggering a lockdown at Beverly Middle School around 8:30 a.m. Monday. In a message to parents, Principal Matthew P. Poska said school officials were able to determine the alarm was accidental within minutes after the lockdown message was broadcast on the school's public address system. "I apologize for the disruption that this caused," Poska said.
