Police said a Nissan sedan, was stopped at the red light at the Stop & Shop parking lot exit onto Elliott St and planning to take a right to head east on Elliott Street when the victim, a 69 year old male from Beverly, was heading west. When the victim got near the exit of the Stop & Shop parking lot he found a large snow bank blocking the crosswalk and the button for pedestrians to push to get the crossing signal. While the victim proceeded slowly, at the same time, the Nissan operator, a 43 year old male from Bradford, MA slightly bumped the victim and immediately stopped his vehicle and got out to see if the victim was ok. The victim sustained a scratch on his knee but was otherwise uninjured and refused medical treatment. No damage sustained to the wheelchair or the vehicle. The Department of Public Services were notified to clear the snow bank and open up the sidewalk to make the crosswalk more accessible.
