North Shore NAACP Chapter Gets Charter

HAMILTON, MA — The national board of the NAACP approved the charter of a newly-formed, North Shore chapter on July 25.

The new chapter covers 17 communities, including Amesbury, Beverly, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marblehead, Newbury, Newburyport, Rockport, Rowley, Salem, Salisbury, Topsfield, and Wenham.

A subgroup of the Hamilton-Wenham Human Rights Coalition organized the chapter, but the chapter will be independent of the coalition. The chapter's application included 294 founders from 27 communities, more than the 100 required to found a new NAACP chapter.
