Gaston J. “Gus” Bouchard, 84, beloved husband of Lucille (L’Heureux) Bouchard, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 16, 2014 at home.
Born and raised in Salem and a longtime resident of Beverly, he was the son of the late Adolph and Jeanne (LeVasseur) Bouchard. He graduated from St. Joseph School in Salem and Assumption High School in Worcester.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the U.S. Air Force. Upon his discharge from the service, he acquired HVAC training, a trade that fulfilled his love of the mechanical world. He was employed in various companies before establishing Gaston Refrigeration in 1969. The company’s main account was the Rich’s department store chain, which required him to travel throughout New England, and as far as Calais, Maine, until the time of his retirement in 1994. Even after his retirement, he continued pursuing his passion for constructing and repairing mechanical things with the completion of various projects around the house.
A former member of the Palmer Cove Yacht Club in Salem, his pleasure was taking his boat, called the “Good Day”, and spending the day with his family.

In addition to his wife with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, Gus is survived by two sons, Guy Bouchard and his wife, Kathleen of Beverly and Robert Bouchard and his wife, Julie of Tryon, N.C., three grandchildren, Roger Bouchard of Salem, Christopher Bouchard of Beverly and Danielle Bouchard of N.C., a sister, Genevieve Morneau of Salem, one brother, Raymond Bouchard and his wife, Virginia of Beverly, one sister-in-law, Irene Poussard and her husband Arthur of Salem, two brothers-in-law, Orille W. L’Heureux and his wife Mary of Salem, and Roger L’Heureux and his wife Virginia of Merrimack, N.H., and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Elise M. Bouchard.
A Funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch Street, Beverly on Saturday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be at Campbell-Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Burial is in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
