Pesticide Spraying for Mosquitoes to be Conducted Next Week in Beverly

The city announced this afternoon that mosquito spraying will occur on Monday evening, weather permitting.

Beverly health officials announced the Northeast Mass. Mosquito Control District will conduct a targeted adulticide treatment the evening of Sept. 17, weather permitting, as well as Sept. 18 and 19 if necessary to reduce mosquito populations.

The spraying will be conducted in the Centerville and Farms areas of the city. Spraying will take place between 7:00 pm and dawn.

"The spraying of the targeted area is in response to a positive West Nile Virus pool/sample of mosquitoes from an adjacent town bordering this section of Beverly," the alert stated

Consider staying indoors when the spray truck is in the immediate area of your home, and close windows and shut off fans and air conditioners until the truck passes.

The Mass. Department of Public Health (DPH) yesterday announced the fourth human case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in a Plymouth county resident. Health officials have also confirmed the 14th case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a Mass. resident this year.
