Police Called for Sleepy Dunkin Donuts Customer

The following is an excerpt from the Beverly Police log: 

Friday, Oct. 19

  • At 12:59 a.m. police were called to a disturbance on Rantoul Street. The caller, who was reportedly highly intoxicated, said everyone was yelling and screaming at eachother for no apparent reason. The building was quiet when police arrived, and they advised her to get some sleep. 
  • A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Cabot Street at 10:21 p.m.
  • A man was reportedly tasered by police after a two hour standoff on Essex Street at 11:43 p.m.
  • At 3:59 p.m. police were called to the Cummings Center on report of a young couple arguing near the fountain. They told police they were just talking. 

Saturday, Oct. 20

  • A fight was reported in the street on Sohier Road at 12:20 a.m.
  • Police were called to Thissell Street on report of a suspicious vehicle in the area at 6:38 a.m. Police spoke to the female driver, who told police she was looking for a nearby estate sale, and was lost. 
  • A mailbox was reported stolen on Bates Street at 1:21 p.m.
  • Police were called to Dodge Street on report of a suspicious man sitting in his car, reportedly watching the ATM, at 4:09 p.m. When police arrived the man was just reading his Kindle in the car. 
  • Police were called to Park Street at 11:01 p.m. on report of a man laying next to the train tracks. 

Sunday, Oct. 21

  • Police were called to Dunkin Donuts on Cabot Street at 9:27 a.m. on report of a man who fell asleep in the store. Police woke him and he left without incident. 
  • A vehicle was reported vandalized on Park Street at 12:48 p.m.
  • Police were called to Butman Street at 5:35 p.m. on report of kids breaking bottles. They were not there when police arrived. 
  • Police were called to Woodbury Street at 9:17 p.m. on report of a vehicle that was possibly abandoned. Police determined the vehicle had been parked there for only an hour, and was legally parked. 
  • Police were called to Rantoul Street at 11:57 p.m., where a man reportedly didn't pay his taxi fare and ran from the vehicle. Police searched the area but did not locate him.
