'Severe' North Shore Commuter Rail Delays Wednesday Afternoon

The MBTA said early Wednesday afternoon that the problem was due to a signal issue in Beverly and was affecting inbound and outbound trains.

BEVERLY, MA — North Shore train riders could be in for a long, slow ride throughout Wednesday because of a signal issue causing "severe" delays in both directions.

The MBTA said engineering crews were working to fix the signal issue in Beverly at about 1:30 p.m.

Trains will be forced to operate at reduced speeds until the issue is resolved.

The MBTA said as of about 3:30 p.m. that delays were about 30 minutes.
