Man Struck By Train At Beverly Depot Friday

The train was stopped at Beverly Depot after the incident.

BEVERLY, MA – The MBTA has confirmed that a man was struck at Beverly Depot on Friday afternoon. According to Spokesperson Lisa Battiston, he sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Beverly Police Spokesperson Officer Mike Boccuzzi said the man walked in front of the train and received a "glancing blow" around 1:30 p.m. The man was transported to Beverly Hospital.

The train remained at Beverly Depot for the "medical emergency."

The medical emergency wasn't immediately clear, but tweets from the MBTA Commuter Rail Twitter account mentioned a medical emergency. Another train picked up the train's passengers, according to the MBTA Twitter account.

As of 2:20 p.m., the train – Train 168 inbound – was 40 to 50 minutes late.
