Two Assault Arrests Made Tuesday

The following was provided by the Beverly Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the  log: 

Monday, Sept. 10

  • Police were called to Rantoul Street on report of loud construction at 2:25 a.m. Police were told they were putting in new rugs, and the noise was echoing outside because the doors were open. The owner shut the doors. 
  • Police were called to Congress Street at 8:57 a.m. on report of a sick skunk. 
  • A wallet was found on Rantoul Street at 11:28 a.m.
  • Two homeless campsites were reported near the Ryal Side Elementary School at 1:33 p.m. Beverly DPW was contacted. 
  • A woman was reported stumbling outside Montserrat College, and was found by police passed out on a bench at 2:12 p.m. She was transported to Beverly Hopsital. 
  • At 2:06 p.m. police reports stated a Cabot Street business reported approximately $60,000 had been stolen through computer fraud. 
  • Police were called to Memorial Drive at 4:36 p.m. on report of a person yelling and taking pictures of children who had allegedly kicked his vehicle. Police said no damage was done to the vehicle; their parents were advised. 

Tuesday, Sept. 11

  • A loud group was reported on Washington Street at 12:15 a.m.
  • Police were called to Rantoul Street on a complaint of loud music at 12:36 a.m.
  • At 12:48 a.m. police arrested Michael Claffey, 26, of 32 Hathaway Ave. on two counts of assault and battery, and intimidation of a witness. 
  • A man looking into cars was reported on Cabot Street at 1:05 a.m.
  • At 4:22 a.m. police arrested Christopher Peatridge, 24, of 131 Cabot St., on charges of assault and battery. 
  • At 9:24 a.m. police arrested Maurice Carr, 34, of 1 Cabot St. in Salem, on warrant charges. 
  • Police were called to Memorial Drive on report of a neighbor threats at 11:04 a.m.
