Woman Hit by Train Suffered Head Injuries, Services Delayed During Morning Commute

The woman struck by a train near Beverly Depot on Monday morning suffered a non-life threatening head injury, according to investigators.

The 55-year-old female from Beverly was taken by ambulance to Beverly Hospital for treatment, according to MBTA Transit Police Lt. Richard Sullivan, who said investigators are not releasing her name.

The incident happened at about 8:10 a.m. on Monday when a female was attempting to cross in front of a train before she was struck, according to Beverly Police Officer Michael Boccuzzi.

The train that struck the woman was held at Beverly Depot for about an hour, according to one rider, and train service resumed one one track.

It was the second time in less than a year that someone has survived after suffering a head injury from being hit by a train near Beverly Depot. Last November, a 51-year-old man was struck on the tracks near the Depot.
