Alleged Drunk Driver in New Year's Hit-And-Run Held on Bail; Victim's Identity Remains Mystery
The alleged driver in the fatal East Boston collision was caught walking away from the scene, according to Boston Police.

BOSTON, MA — The alleged driver in a fatal collision that left one pedestrian dead New Year's Day on Saratoga Street was held Tuesday on a $20,000 bail.
Christopher Nalchajian, a 33-year-old from Lynn, was in East Boston Municipal Court, charged with motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence and leaving the scene of a collision causing death.
According to Boston Police, Nalchajian was arrested while attempting to walk away from the crash.

The pedestrian hit by the car, identified only as a male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. As of Tuesday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said investigators have not yet been able to identify the victim.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of Saratoga Street around 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, in East Boston.

If Nalchajian posts bail, he will not be allowed to drive or use drugs/alcohol. He'll next appear in court on Feb. 6, the DA's office said.
