Another MA Heatwave On Deck
The National Weather Service warned of "dangerous" heat, but said we probably won't hit 100 degrees.

BOSTON — A heatwave expected to stretch over several days will begin this weekend as temperatures break out of this cloudy cool.
"We likely won't see 100" degrees, the National Weather Service offered as a consolation. Still, temperatures will be in the high 80s and 90s from Sunday through Thursday, according to forecasts.
Monday and Tuesday appear to be the hottest days with Boston highs of about 95 degrees. Things will begin to cool off late Thursday as some rains move in.

"Oppressive heat and humidity is possible across much of southern New England Monday through Wednesday, with the exception of Cape Cod and the Islands as well as the immediate South Coast," the National Weather Service said. "Heat index values are forecast to be in the mid to upper 90s Monday through Wednesday."
The National Weather Service said the heat could rise to "dangerous" levels, The Boston Herald reported.

It would be the second heatwave of the summer in Massachusetts. A heatwave is technically three consecutive days of at least 90 degrees.
Acting Boston Mayor Kim Janey called on more ways to beat the heat in the city, including more access to open space and more built-in sprinklers. She also planned on opening cooling centers earlier.
"We are a northern city as we all know, we are in the Northeast," she said, according to the State House News Service. "And still, we see an increase of 90-degree weather. And so we need more access to open space, we need more access to places where we can cool off, and we have to keep doing the work in terms of ensuring we are protecting our climate, our planet, from climate change."
The entire country will be undergoing a warm-up, with all-time records possible in the Pacific Northwest.
