Beloved Local Broadcaster Bob Neumeier Dead At 70
Bob Neumeier, commonly referred to as "Neumie" by local fans and colleagues, was a constant for decades on TV and radio.
BOSTON — Local sports broadcasting legend Bob Neumeier has died at the age 70.
Radio host Tony Massarotti said Neumeier died Saturday from heart disease/congestive heart failure. Neumeier had battled various health ailments, being hospitalized after a stroke in 2014.
Neumeier, commonly referred to as "Neumy" by local fans and colleagues, was a constant for decades on TV and radio. A Weymouth native and Syracuse graduate, he was best known for his 20-year as a WBZ sports anchor on WBZ. Neumeier could also be seen on NBC Sports Boston and heard on WEEI as part of the "Dale & Neumy Show."

Neumeier's expansive knowledge and joyous delivery gave life to the sports he was covering, whether it was as the radio voice of the Bruins or his horse racing coverage at NBC.
"Accomplished in his field, even better at life," Massarotti said.

The Boston Globe's Chad Finn reported NBC will pay homage Neumeier during its Sunday night's "Football Night in America."
