BOSTON, MA — A man's body was discovered near a park bench early Wednesday morning in South Boston's Marine Park, according to State Police.

A call came in through 9-1-1 from a passerby who spotted the body just after 7 a.m. The cause of death is unknown, but neither the man’s body nor the scene showed signs of violence or a struggle, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

According to the DA's office, the body has been identified as a man in his late 70s or early 80s, with a last known address in Walpole.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death. Because the evidence suggests there was no foul play, the DA's office said it does not expect to release the man's identity at this time.
