Boston Breaks Ground On Better Bike Project

Construction began Monday on Massachusetts Avenue to add a two-way protected bike lane, new crosswalks and more.

BOSTON — Construction kicked off Monday on the Better Bike Project, which has been in the works since September 2019.

Massachusetts Avenue is one of the most dangerous streets in Boston for biking and walking, according to the City's website. The Better Bike Project aims to change that by overhauling the area between Melnea Cass Boulevard and Columbia Road.

The project will start by reconstructing curb ramps near Columbia Road and working northward in the first week.
