Negative COVID Test Or Vaccine Card Needed To Run Boston Marathon
Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test is required for all runners in this year's fall Boston Marathon.

BOSTON — The Boston Athletic Association updated requirements for runners in the 125th Boston Marathon.
On Thursday, the association declared that all entrants scheduled to run Monday, October 11, will need to either provide proof of vaccination or produce a negative COVID-19 test in order to participate in the fall race.
The BAA strongly recommended all entrants, staff, and volunteers are vaccinated.

Masks will not be required while running the 26.2-mile course but will be enforced on participant transportation and in other areas in accordance with local guidelines.
Last Friday, Boston issued an indoor mask mandate, following suit with many surrounding communities though Gov. Baker is still saying "no" to a statewide indoor mask mandate.

For runners who are not vaccinated, the Marathon will offer COVID-19 tests in tents set up near the race so every runner can produce a negative test on-site.
Vaccine verification will occur Friday, October 8 through Sunday, October 10 in coordination with the Boston Marathon Expo hours. Participants may bring an original paper copy, digital copy, photocopy, or photo of their vaccination proof.
The BAA says they will work with a third-party testing provider for test administration and results tracking. Testing will begin no earlier than 72 hours prior to participant start times on Monday, October 11. Exact hours, locations, and additional details will be communicated directly to all participants.
The fastest way to grab your number for the race is to be fully vaccinated.
Upon negative COVID-19 test or successful vaccination verification, participants will receive a bracelet which must be worn at all times in order to access bib number pick-up areas and participant transportation areas on race day.
All Boston Marathon medical volunteers will be fully vaccinated, the BAA says.
