UPDATED: Boston Police Officer with Dignitary's Motorcade Injured in Motorcycle Crash

The accident happened near the Museum of Science building, and the officer did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

BOSTON, MA - A Boston Police officer was injured in a motorcycle accident Thursday morning while escorting Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in Boston.

The accident happened just before 10:30 a.m. on the O'Brien Highway near the Museum of Science building in Boston. The officer was transported to a local hospital. Officials said his injuries were not life threatening.

The U.S. Secret Service Twitter account shared well wishes and identified the officer by name shortly after the accident (below). As of Thursday evening, that Tweet appears to have been deleted.

Please note: Police corrected their original statement. The injured officer was with the Italian prime minister's motorcade, not with Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who is also visiting Boston Thursday. The story has been updated to reflect that
