Boston Police Bust 128 For Drinking At 2019 St. Patrick's Parade
By way of comparison, in 2012 police issued 244 citations for public drinking at the parade.
BOSTON — The numbers are in: Boston Police arrested three men and gave out 128 citations for public drinking, two citations for smoking marijuana in public and three license premise violations at the 118th Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston.
Police estimate close to a million people lined the streets of the parade, Sunday.
"We are grateful to all of our officers and department members who worked hard to ensure the safety of the parade participants and spectators along the route. Once again, we thank everyone who helped to make this event the family focused day it’s intended to be," the department posted to its website.

The three arrested? None were from Boston, according police:
- A 17-year-old man from Easton was charged with minor in possession of alcohol.
- A 20-year-old man from Taunton was charged with affray and assault and battery.
- A 22-year-old man from Green Harbor was charged with disorderly conduct.
All three were arraigned in South Boston District Court.

By way of comparison? On Sunday, March 18, 2012, officers patrolling the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston issued 244 citations for Drinking in Public. In addition to the citations, eight arrests (most for Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace) were made.
