BOSTON — A Boston police captain pleaded not guilty to domestic-violence charges in Quincy District Court Friday, the Globe reports.

Captain Timothy Connolly was charged with two counts of assault and battery on a family member, and a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He was released on personal recognizance, but ordered to stay away from his wife of 13 years.

His wife Phuong Phoenix Bui testified in court, the Boston Globe reported, that after an argument she believed he took her identification. In response, she took his phone and badge. She said in court while she was packing up to stay somewhere else he got upset and hit the back of her head. He said she kicked him in the groin.
