BOSTON — The city's famed Fourth of July fireworks display is back on — just not in the manner you're accustomed to.

Organizers announced Friday the fireworks will be at Boston Common, while the Boston Pops will perform that night in Tanglewood, a music venue in the Berkshires.

The usual celebration, which was skipped last year due to the pandemic, will return to the Esplanade and Hatch Shell next year when there will be "adequate time to plan and execute the complex event, which usually entails a ten-month planning process involving multiple government agencies and many event and concert planning organizations," organizers said in a statement.

The concert will start at 8 p.m. and the fireworks will follow at 10:30.

Tanglewood will limit its capacity to 9,000 people. Free tickets will be available on the Boston Symphony Orchestra site beginning June 21.
