Cargo Shorts Find a Staunch Defender in Boston Mayor Marty Walsh
Clad in khaki, the mayor jumped into the #cargogate fray Monday. What do you say — fashion faux pas or bold choice?

To top it all off, the mayor signed the statement "MJW," indicating this tweet was from the head honcho himself, not some lowly staffer out for laughs.
It's part of an ongoing, online sartorial battle sparked last week by a Wall Street Journal story entitled, "Nice Cargo Shorts! You’re Sleeping on the Sofa." It sparked a debate of unprecedented strength and duration, prompting a followup piece that began, "I apologize to the world for igniting the Cargo Shorts Wars of 2016..."

If Walsh was itchin' for a fight, he got one. Several Twitter users (including at least one fellow mayor) rallied to his side...
