Don't Miss: MBTA To Hold Public Meeting On Bus Redesign

BOSTON — The MBTA is holding a virtual meeting Thursday, May 19 to hear feedback from the public on its plans to redesign Greater Boston's bus network.

The Bus Network Redesign, or Better Bus Project, has been in the works at the MBTA since 2018. The project aims to reimagine the bus system in Boston for the residents who need it most, from offering more midday, evening and weekend service to adding new bus routes.

The MBTA calls the plan a "once-in-a-generation opportunity."

Currently in the Planning stage, the Better Bus Project will use this summer to work together with the public to design a new network map. Thursday's meeting is the first of many meant to gather extensive public feedback.

A final network map will be presented to the MBTA Board this fall. Assuming all gets approved, the Implementation stage will kick off in spring 2023 with the rollout of new routes. The MBTA expects to conclude the project in 2028.
