MSP identified the driver as 39-year-old Anthony E. Buchanan, of Dorchester, and said he has been charged with the following: Motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of liquor; Leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury or death; Speeding; and Marked lanes violation.

Based on their investigation, State Police believe Buchanan was behind the wheel of a 2016 Dodge Charger, driving fast and erratically down Morton Street. The investigation indicates that after striking Sims, the Charger’s operator stopped briefly and then drove away, toward American Legion Highway, State Police said.
