WASHINGTON, DC — Sen. Elizabeth Warren is among four finalists to join Joe Biden's ticket as his vice president, according to CNN.

Warren is joined by Sen. Kamala Harris, of California; Rep. Val Demings, of Florida; and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in Biden's final four, according to the news network.

Biden has committed to picking a woman as a running mate, and in recent weeks he's faced calls to pick a woman of color. Harris, Demings and Bottoms are all women of color.

Then there's Warren, once considered one of Biden's most serious threats for the Democratic presidential nomination. While they differed on many issues, Biden could make a play for holdouts in the party's left wing going with the Massachusetts senator who campaigned on "big structural change."

Biden essentially knocked Warren out of the race when he won Massachusetts on Super Tuesday. Warren finished third in her home state, behind fellow progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Warren finally came around to endorsing Biden, and rumors of her name as running mate have been percolating.

Things have became murkier in the past week. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota last week withdrew her name from consideration in urging Biden to choose a woman of color amid the racial equity conversations taking place in America. Klobuchar's urging came after she was essentially cut out of consideration in the aftermath of George Floyd's death in her home state, where she had been a prosecutor.

CNN reported Biden will meet with the finalists in mid- to-late July and make a decision in early August. The general election Nov. 3.
