Family Of Woman Killed in Boston Harbor Crash Seeking Answers

A boat crash in Boston Harbor on Saturday has the family of Jeanica Julce mourning her loss as investigators try to determine what happened.

BOSTON — The family of 27-year-old Jeanica Julce is mourning her loss after she was killed in a boating accident over the weekend.

Julce's body was found in Boston Harbor just after 10 a.m. after a boat struck a navigational buoy early Saturday morning near Castle Island, injuring seven other people, throwing them into the water, and sending them to local hospitals.

After receiving an initial call around 3 a.m. for the crash, Boston Police and the U.S. Coast Guard spent almost 13 hours searching the water.

Julce was living in Somerville and majoring in finance at UMass Boston, with dreams of opening her own dance studio, according to a GoFundMe page set up by her family.

A vigil will be held for her at the Unknown Hype Dance Company on Morton Street in Mattapan this Thursday, according to The Boston Globe.

Boston Police Sgt. Detective John Boyle said Julce’s death is under investigation by the Suffolk district attorney’s office and Boston police’s homicide unit.
