BOSTON — After an investigation by the MBTA Transit Police department, three former members of the TPD are facing charges of receiving more than $14,000 in overtime and regular pay that they did not earn.

Former TPD Lt. Kenneth Berg, Sgt. Michael Adamson and Sgt. Jason Morris have been charged with one count each of larceny of more than $250 by a single scheme.

Each officer is accused of leaving their shifts early or not being present at all during shifts that they were fully paid to work. After the allegations were rained TPD launched separate internal investigations into each of the three officers.

An investigation launched by TPD found that in total, Lt. Berg received $8,460.97 that he never earned or worked for, thus he was not entitled to, Sgt. Morris was paid $4,354.55 for time he never worked, and Sgt. Adamson was paid $1,228.36 for hours he never worked.

Lt. Berg resigned from the department in 2017 while Sgt. Adamson resigned in 2018. Sgt. Morris resigned in lieu of termination.

“Members of law enforcement are and should be, held to a higher standard. The integrity of the entire criminal legal system rests on the integrity of those who work within the system." District Attorney Rollins said. "How can we be holding people accountable for misdeeds and actions when we are cheating, lying, or stealing ourselves? It goes against everything we are meant to stand for and is the very definition of hypocrisy.”

All three are expected to be arraigned in the Central Division of Boston Municipal Court on July 20.
