Gallery: Supermoon Over Boston

See dazzling photos of the biggest full moon since 1948, captured before and despite last night's overcast skies.

BOSTON, MA — The most super "supermoon" in decades loomed over Boston last night largely under cloud cover, but some intrepid photographers still got some great shots, if not Monday than on Sunday.

Sunday night's dazzling display was a precursor to what was considered the biggest supermoon since 1948 on Monday night.

The term itself is for a not-so-rare phenomenon (an especially large, full moon), but Monday's was supposed to be one of the biggest in decades, according to Bob Berman, an astronomer at the Slooh Community Observatory. NASA says the moon won't be this big again until 2034.
