GBH Discontinuing 'Beat The Press' And 'Innovation Hub'

As the Boston-based public news station turns its focus to audience-centered local stories, it will drop two weekly programs.

BOSTON — GBH will discontinue the production of two weekly programs, Beat the Press with Emily Rooney, and the national radio series Innovation Hub with Kara Miller.

The Boston-based local news station sent out a statement Friday, saying it instead wants to deepen its focus on audience-centered local stories and to do so, it will drop the two weekly programs.

The station says this change comes because it wants to concentrate on critical issues like education, social justice, COVID/public health, and politics.

"This was a difficult decision. Beat the Press has been one of GBH's longest-running news shows...and we are grateful to Emily Rooney for her award-winning work, her dedication to her craft, and her many contributions to GBH over 24 years," said Pam Johnston, General Manager of GBH News in a statement.
