HBO's 'Marathon' Documentary Premieres Tonight

The documentary follows local survivors through recovery and recounts the Boston bombing through interviews, on-the-ground footage.

BOSTON, MA — A documentary recounting the path to recovery for several Boston Marathon Bombing survivors debuts Monday night on HBO, a film produced in partnership with The Boston Globe and focused on runners and spectators from the area who were injured in the blasts.

Per HBO's description:

Marathon: The Patriot's Day Bombing, directed by Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg and produced in association with The Boston Globe, recounts the dramatic story of the April 2013 terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon through the experiences of individuals whose lives were forever changed. The film draws on surveillance footage, news clips, home movies and exclusive interviews with survivors and their families over the course of three years as they face the challenges of physical and emotional recovery and strive to reclaim their lives and communities.

Its release precedes several upcoming big-screen dramatizations of the harrowing event, including Mark Wahlberg's "Patriots Day," which debuted its second trailer today.
