Today is Friday, Aug. 21. Here are some of the top stories we are covering.

"Full House" star Lori Loughlin and her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli are headed to prison after a Boston federal judge accepted plea deals for their roles in a college admissions scandal in which the couple paid $500,000 to bribe their daughters' way into school.

Loughlin will serve two months in prison, according to the terms of her plea deal. Giannulli will serve five months in prison. Both must also pay fines and perform community service.

"I deeply regret the harm my actions have caused my daughters, my wife and others," Giannulli said after his sentencing late Friday morning.

The couple had been quiet since being charged with bribing their daughters' way into the University of Southern California. Federal prosecutors said they paid $500,000 to get their two girls into the school as crew recruits — despite neither having been involved in the sport.

Boston Public Schools will begin the year in a fully remote model and eventually move to two days a week of in-person learning, Mayor Marty Walsh announced Friday.

The first day of remote learning will be Sept. 21. Students will then be brought back in waves depending on coronavirus health metrics. In-person learning will be suspended if the coronavirus rate rises above 4 percent; the city's current rate is at 2.8 percent.

Families can choose between sending their students to class or staying remote. Those who go to class will do so either Monday and Tuesday or Thursday and Friday, with the other three days being remote.

Encore Casino Enacts New Safety Measures After Hectic Week

Encore Boston Harbor announced a series of safety enhancements after a week that saw a shooting, stabbing and a large party on or near the casino property.

A spokesperson for the casino said new protocols include a maximum occupancy of six people in any hotel guest room, increased security personnel at hotel elevator banks to ensure only registered guests have access to rooms and a four-person cap on elevators. There will also be increased security patrols of all hotel floors.

Violators of the six-person limit will be kicked out, and the registered guest could face a $1,000 fine, a spokesperson said.
