MA Snow Forecast Worsens, Tuesday To Be Messy

An updated forecast says Tuesday's storm will last longer and bring more snow than earlier predicted.

BOSTON — The National Weather Service has updated its forecast for Tuesday's storm, calling now for three to five inches of snow in Eastern Massachusetts instead of the one to three inches predicted earlier.

The storm, expected to start about 1 a.m. Tuesday, will bring not just snow but also sleet and freezing rain, much of it during the morning commute. The heaviest morning snow is expected south of the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Earlier Monday, forecasters said the storm would taper off about 1 p.m. But an updated forecast now calls for the bad weather to continue until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
