MA Weather: Another Round Of Severe Storms, Hail Incoming

All of Massachusetts is under a hazardous weather outlook as strong-to-severe thunderstorms approach Tuesday.

MASSACHUSETTS — The latest in a series of strong storms passing through New England is expected Tuesday, with forecasters warning of strong-to-severe thunderstorms, damaging wind and hail.

All of Massachusetts is under a hazardous weather outlook for the day. The National Weather Service said the primary threats are "damaging wind gusts, hail, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall." Forecasters are warning of localized flash flooding.

No timeline is available, but the storm is expected to move through from the mid-morning through the evening.

Here's what the latest forecast for Tuesday:

Today - Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 10am and 5pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight - A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog between 9pm and 1am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

There have been brief storms and pockets of heavy rain popping up around the state over the past few days. Most of Massachusetts dodged Tropical Storm Fay over the weekend, but Monday saw storm damage across the state. A funnel cloud was caught on video in Salisbury Beach, but a tornado never formed.
