Manslaughter Charges in Charles River Drowning

Case moves to Suffolk Superior Court.

BOSTON, MA — After a Boston man's drowning in the Charles River this summer, his friend has been indicted on charges of manslaughter, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said Friday.

A Suffolk County grand jury on Friday returned the indictment of Lenny Quintero-Flores, 27, of Malden.

The charges comes after prosecutors say he and Mitchell Harrison, 26, of Watertown, were seen drinking together along the Charles River near the Mass Ave. Bridge in late June. Witnesses allege Quintero-Flores used his feet to push Harrison, who was either asleep or unconscious, into the water.

As Patch reported at the time, State Police and Boston Fire Department divers responded to the scene and pulled Harrison from the water. He was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in grave condition, and died early the next morning, the DA's office said.

He previously told reporters he and Harrison were friends, and were just "playing around" when the incident occurred.
