Mueller Report Shows Russian Menace: MA Lawmakers

President Trump was jubilant following the release of the Mueller report; Massachusetts lawmakers not so much.

WASHINGTON, DC — Massachusetts' all-Democratic congressional delegation, naturally, had little praise to offer following this week's release of the redacted Mueller report. Most criticized Attorney General Bill Barr's handling of the matter and some claimed the report's findings underscored the ongoing Russian threat to U.S. elections.

"Russia is going to keep trying to influence our elections," Sen. Ed Markey tweeted. "We need a plan to stop it."

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, in the middle of campaigning for a 2020 presidential nomination, said the report should be released in full.

"This is a disgrace," she said. "The American people deserve answers—and Special Counsel Robert Mueller should testify publicly before Congress."

Rep. Seth Moulton, of Salem, is expected to announce a presidential bid in a matter of days. He released this statement:

"Every American, whether we support the president or not, should want to know why Vladimir Putin and Russia worked so hard to get President Trump elected. That unmistakable conclusion of the report is the real threat to our nation. This is where Congress should focus its oversight of the Administration–as mandated by our Constitution–in the months ahead. Partisanship should end when it comes to our national security. Russia is the only country on earth that could literally end all life in the United States. Democratic and Republican presidents alike have faced down the Russian threat for two generations. All Americans should know why Putin views this president as an exception."

Jim McGovern, of Worcester, blasted Barr.

"It is now clear that Attorney General Barr is not America’s Attorney General and Chief Law Enforcement Officer, but the President’s personal attorney and partisan attack dog," McGovern said.

President Trump was jubilant following the report's release. He tweeted an image of himself with a "Game of Thrones"-inspired graphic that read, "No Collusion. No Obstruction. For the haters and the radical left Democrats — Game Over."

It was quite the turnaround for the president, who was devastated by Mueller's appointment to lead the Russia probe in 2017.

"This is terrible," Trump said at the time to then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions, according to the report. "This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f-----."
