Near Freeze For New England Tonight

Latest weekend weather forecast: temperatures will plunge to 32 degrees or lower up and down the interior of the region.

Pull out the wool blankets, fire up the wood stove, and get a pot of soup going — the coldest weather of the fall so far is on the way tonight. A frost advisory was issued for all of Rhode Island, southern New Hampshire and most of Massachusetts except Boston, the South Shore and Cape Cod.

Today's high will be in the low 60s but it will feel much colder as wind gust will hit 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will plummet tonight and it will be coldest in the Merrimack Valley, where temperatures are expected to dip to 32 degrees or below.

The frost advisory was issued for early Saturday morning through 8 a.m. These are the expected lows across the region:

  • Boston: 40 degrees
  • Framingham, MA: 31 degrees
  • Concord, N.H.: 33 degrees
  • Providence R.I.: 35 degrees

Saturday afternoon and Sunday will be a bit more mild before a streak of rain arrives Monday.

Areas of frost before 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 60. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming east in the afternoon.

Saturday night:
Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Light south wind.

Sunday:
Partly sunny, with a high near 67. South wind 5 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Sunday night:
A chance of showers, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday:
Showers likely, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. South wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday night:
Showers likely, mainly before 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. Southwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%."
