One Hospitalized After Shooting Near Park Street

BOSTON — One person was injured in a shooting near Boston Common Thursday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a person shot at the intersection of Tremont and Winter Streets around 3:27 p.m. Witnesses say they heard two gunshots.

One man was rushed to the hospital, but police did not say whether the shooter was arrested.

Suffolk University issued an alert to faculty saying the suspected gunman fled the area in the direction of a Red Line MBTA station.

Helicopters could been seen overhead in Downtown and parts of Back Bay.

Tremont Street near Park Street is temporarily closed and officials are asking people to avoid the area while they investigate the scene.
