Fatality on the Orange Line

Foul play is not suspected.

Service is resuming after a train at Ruggles Station reportedly struck a person on the tracks, temporarily suspending Orange Line trains at several stations Monday afternoon.

The Mass. Bay Transit Authority said it has resumed Orange Line Service between its Jackson and Haymarket stops. "Moderate residual delays" persist as of about 4:30 p.m., according to an MBTA alert.

Transit Police told reporters late Monday that one person is dead, after being hit by a train at Ruggles Station. Police describe him as a young man, and say no foul play is suspected. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
