Overnight Blaze Injures Firefighter, Displaces 11 Residents: Boston Fire

The four-alarm blaze broke out just after midnight.

BOSTON, MA — An overnight, four-alarm fire has left at least 11 people homeless in Allston, according to the Boston Fire Department.

Posting updates via Twitter, Boston Fire says it arrived at 30-32 Myrick St. around 12:25 a.m.

There, according to BFD, smoke was already coming from the building. The fire was in the walls of the large, 2.5-story, wood-frame home, the fire department said. There were three apartments inside.

The fire department called for four alarms at roughly 2:30 a.m., summoning more crews to the scene.

None of the residents were injured, but one firefighter was treated and sent to the hospital for a back injury, Boston Fire said.

The department believes at least 11 people were displaced from their homes by the blaze, and the fire chief put the preliminary total damage estimate at $1 million.

Fire investigators are seeking to determine the fire's cause and point of origin.
