BOSTON — A pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital early Friday morning after being struck by a car in East Boston, police said.

Officials are still on the lookout for the driver of the vehicle, who appears to have driven off after the incident.

The man has not been identified, but police said he suffered life-threatening injuries.
