Police Investigating Vandalism To WWII Memorial On Castle Island
Some sort of oily substance seems to have been dumped on the memorial, according to State Police.

BOSTON — State police are asking for the public's help in finding out who vandalized the World War II memorial at Castle Island.
Someone called police around 11:30 a.m. to report the memorial in South Boston had been vandalized. And when troopers arrived they the memorial covered in what appeared to be a type of oil splashed or poured on top.
The granite memorial is situated at the beginning of the causeway heading out to Castle Island.

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation, which oversees Castle Island, was notified and is working to clean the memorial using a power washer and a scrub brush.
Police are urging anyone with information about who may be responsible is to call State Police-South Boston at 617-740-7710.
