BOSTON — A man is in the hospital in critical condition after he was hit by a car in Boston Friday night. Now, State police are looking for the driver and car they said hit him and drove off.

"We are currently seeking the driver/vehicle that struck the victim shortly before midnight on Frontage Road, south of the Massachusetts Avenue Connector, and are asking the public for information," state police said in a statement Saturday.

First responders took the pedestrian, a 44-year-old man, to Boston Medical Center. They described his injuries as "serious."

Police are asking anyone who knows anything about the crash to contact them. They're also asking anyone who was on or in the area of Frontage Road, which runs parallel to Interstate 93 in South Boston and Roxbury, between 11:45 p.m. and 11:55 p.m. Friday, and who may have witnessed the crash or a car speeding out of the area, to call them.
