Massive Power Outage Affects Thousands In Boston

Almost 50 reported outages affected a large portion of the city.

BOSTON, MA — Eversource reported on its outage map that nearly 28,000 customers were without power for a period of time on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Eversource, the outage originated from a substation in Andrews Square, which primarily powers areas in South Boston.

In a statement released at 3:52 p.m., Eversource said it had restored power to a large number of its affected customers, and expects electricity to be fully restored within the next 30 minutes.

Eversource announced that the substation had been repaired and that electricity had been fully restored at approximately 4:15 p.m.
