Report: Rents Drop Near 105 Boston T Stops
A study by RentHop showed that the median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Boston has dropped near 87 percent of T stops.

BOSTON — Rent prices have dropped for one-bedroom apartments near 105 Boston T stops—most notably at Government Center, State, and Park Street, a RentHop study shows.
With more people working from home and T ridership down, typically desirable locations have had to decrease their prices.
- Government Center — Blue Line: median rent of $2,500, decrease of 25 percent
- State — Blue Line, Orange Line: median rent of $2,526, decrease of 24.7 percent
- Park Street — Green Line, Red Line: median rent of $2,552, decrease of 24.5 percent
- Haymarket — Green Line, Orange Line: median rent of $2,505, decrease of 23.5 percent
- Bowdoin — Blue Line: median rent of $2,500, decrease of $23.2 percent
Only 11 stops saw nearby rent increase, compared to 88 stops the year before. The top stops for rent increases since February 2020 were:

- Shawmut — Red Line: median rent of $2,175, increase of 5.5 percent
- Quincy Adams — Red Line: average rent $1,950, increase of 4.9 percent
- Waban — Green Line: median rent of $1,822, increase of 4.1 percent
- Wonderland — Blue Line: median rent of $1,852, increase of 2.9 percent
- Newton Centre — Green Line: median rent of $2,100, increase of 2.4 percent
The MBTA has come under fire for cutting bus lines and laying off workers. The Boston City Council passed a resolution last week in support of an act that would put a Bostonian on the MBTA fiscal management and control board. Councilor Kenzie Bok said the representative — to be appointed by the mayor — would give residents of Boston a voice in the transportation they rely most heavily on.
"I really think these recent harmful cuts have shown us what happens when we don't have that seat at the table," Bok said at the meeting last Wednesday. "It's our Boston residents who are suffering with these cuts to public transportation on every level."
