Red Line Delays Reported Wednesday: UPDATE

As of about 9:30 a.m., the MBTA was reporting "minor residual delays."

BOSTON, MA — Riders on the Red Line experienced significant delays during Wednesday morning's commute.

A "severe delay" alert went out around 8:30 a.m. Just after 9 a.m., the MBTA downgraded the delay to "moderate," and subsequently reported "minor residual delays," as of about 9:30 a.m.

The MBTA attributed the severe delay to an ongoing signal problem at its Harvard station and a medical emergency at the Central station, both in Cambridge. The signal problem persisted, causing the continuing moderate delays.
