Dennis White, whose tenure as Boston police commissioner was short-lived after decades-old domestic violence allegations came to light, claims racial and gender discrimination played into his firing.

In the 106-page document, White’s legal team said the city and acting Mayor Kim Janey discriminated against him by claiming he was improperly vetted despite his vetting being the same as those of former — mostly white — police commissioners.
“The city has never subjected any other similarly situated Commissioner to the type of scrutiny and investigation that White endured,” White's lawyers wrote. “The City’s conduct demonstrates its deliberate indifference to the violation of Mr. White’s constitutional rights to equal protection.” (Saraya Wintersmith, GBH)

Massachusetts and New Hampshire came to blows over charging income tax on out-of-state workers. Gov. Charlie Baker sought to continue charging a 5 percent income tax on out-of-state employees of Massachusetts companies who worked remotely during the pandemic. (Erin Tiernan, Boston Herald)

A rabbi was stabbed in front of a Jewish day school in Brighton. Police arrested Khaled Awad, 24, who is expected to be arraigned in Brighton District Court on charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a police officer. (Haley Cornell, Patch)

President Joe Biden said the federal government will pay for the first 30 days of rescue efforts at the site of the Surfside condo collapse. Biden met with families affected by the collapse Thursday, as search and rescue efforts were halted due to concerns over the building's stability. (CBS Miami)
Former President Donald Trump is seeking the identity of the Capitol Police officer who fatally shot Ashli Babbitt as she tried to break into the House chamber on Jan. 6. The Justice Department found the officer acted in self-defense. (Forbes)
