Those Loud, Low-Flying Helicopters Are Nothing to Worry About

But Boston Police still had to reassure a few people.

BOSTON, MA — For those of you who saw the low-flying, flashing red lights or heard the loud buzzing overhead late Tuesday and Wednesday night — fear not.

In response to concerns, the Boston Police Department tweeted that the low, loud helicopter passes were part of a planned training exercise with the Department of Defense.

BPD sent out a press release on this last week, writing: "The Department of Defense, in conjunction with local and federal law enforcement, will be conducting training in and around the greater Boston area through August 26, 2016. This is a planned exercise in cooperation with local authorities and is not in response to any current world events. The exercise is expected to have minimal impact to the public. To maintain the highest level of safety, there are no public viewing or media opportunities planned during this event."
