According to National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, 50% of people aged 12 and over in America have tried illicit drugs at least once. Research also suggests that addiction is a chronic disease, and it is a costly one. Thecost of addiction in America exceeds $740 billion annually when the legal, social, and health-related costs are tallied. As such, the need for credible addiction treatment continues to rise, as does the need for partnerships with insurance providers to remove financial barriers from rehab. Topsail Addiction Recovery is meeting that need via a new in-network partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Massachusetts. The partnership allows BCBS members to utilize their in-network health insurance benefits when seeking outpatient addiction treatment through the facility.

It is a noteworthy move that underscores a shift in prioritizing substance abuse rehab amid an ongoing battle against drug and alcohol addiction. This movement started when the Affordable Care Act began requiring insurance companies to provide coverage for mental health services, including drug and alcohol rehab. Since then, many insurance providers, such as BCBS, have sought to broaden their networks of behavioral health providers through partnerships, like this one, to make rehab more accessible for those needing it most.

Topsail Addiction Recovery is Considered One of the Most Reputable Facilities in New England

Located in Andover, MA near Routes 95, 128, and 93, Topsail Addiction Recovery serves the entire New England region, with an emphasis on the Boston metro area, Eastern Massachusetts, and Southern New Hampshire. The center is one of the most credible in the region and has treated numerous clients battling drug and alcohol addictions.

Topsail Addiction Recovery specializes in matching individuals with the right approach to maximize their chances of success. The facility also emphasizes dual diagnosis treatment, which is also commonly covered under most Blue Cross Blue Shield policies. Addressing a dual diagnosis means providing addiction treatment as well as assistance with existing mental health challenges, which typically feed substance abuse issues. Treating both is imperative to effectively getting drug and alcohol addictions under control.

Topsail offers three program options for those seeking addiction rehab services:

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)/Full-Day Treatment: These programs allow patients to receive addiction treatment services five days a week at the Andover facility. It is the most stringent option for outpatient treatment, with five to six hours of programming each day. Topsail's PHP option is intensive and geared toward individuals with significant addiction challenges. Those beginning rehab or transitioning from inpatient treatment may see this option as the next best recovery choice.

In addition to daily programming, counselors work with clients in PHPs to determine an after-care plan that gives them the maximum level of support as they prepare to take the next step in recovery.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): IOPs are intensive and effective while also providing enough independence for clients to participate in life outside of rehab. The design of an IOP is made so individuals can live in their residence or sober living, returning to Topsail at designated times to take part in treatment programming. This includes specialized therapy (individual and group), case management, and other classes and workshops as needed.

The goal of an IOP is to offer an avenue for treatment for those that cannot check out of their life. It is best suited for those who have recently completed detox or those who need a bridge between in-patient residential treatment and sober living. It is also an ideal option for those who feel tenuous about their sobriety and want reinforcement against relapse.

Outpatient Treatment: Topsail's outpatient treatment program takes things a step further by creating space for clients to participate in school, work, and other responsibilities while continuing substance abuse treatment.

The schedule for this more traditional form of outpatient rehab is a bit more flexible, while still maintaining high levels of support for those participating in the recovery process. Each outpatient program is customized for each client and includes varying degrees of therapy, peer support, evaluation, and education.

Outpatient treatment also accounts for lifestyle, co-occurring mental health issues, family dynamics, and substance abuse history. As such, outpatient plans may vary between clients, as customization is part of what makes this approach so effective for clients. The idea is to meet each person where they are in their recovery journey while giving them the best possible chance of successfully achieving a healthy, sober life.

Topsail and BCBS Partnership Provide Members With Affordable Treatment Options

The significance of Topsail's partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts means that obstacles relating to treatment costs are reduced for many who need assistance. Lack of coverage has long been one of the main reasons those in need of help were unable to get it.
