Trick-or-Treat at 35,000 Feet: Dad Makes 3-Year-Old's Halloween Happen Aboard Boston Flight

"Dad of the Year"?

BOSTON, MA — A father flying out of Boston on Halloween made sure his daughter didn't miss any of this year's fun, despite not getting to go door to door for trick-or-treating.

In a printed, pumpkin-shaped note attached to treats and distributed to other passengers aboard the flight from Logan International Airport, he wrote:

"Happy Halloween! My 3-year-old, Molly, was bummed that she wouldn't be able to go trick-or-treating this year due to this flight... so I decided to bring trick-or-treating to her. If you are willing, when my little donut comes down the aisle, please drop this in her basket. You'll be making her Halloween! If you're unwilling, no worries, just pass the treat back to me. Thanks so much!"

One passenger tweeted out the story, which has since gone viral.

The passenger, Stephanie Kahan, told multiple news outlets she was on the Virgin America Flight from Boston to San Francisco, and that the father gave passengers candy with the note attached (above). His daughter, according to Kahan, was dressed as a donut.

In a statement, Virgin America agreed that the dad, whom Kahan says has asked to remain anonymous, could indeed be in the running for "Dad of the Year." The flight's first officer, Joseph Jaya, said in the statement, “It was great to see our special guest deplane with a bag of candy and a huge smile on her face!"
